OpenAI launches free tool to detect AI-generated images

OpenAI announced new measures to combat misinformation from AI-generated deepfakes. The company partnered with Google to add invisible SynthID watermarks to visuals generated using its AI tools and also launched a free public verification tool to identify AI-generated images. The tool relies on SynthID and C2PA metadata standard, which adds a clear signal in the metadata of AI-generated images.
