OpenAI has introduced a new ChatGPT safety feature called Trusted Contact that can notify a designated third party if a user expresses signs of self harm during conversations. Users can choose one adult, such as a friend, family member or caregiver, as their trusted contact through the app's settings. The feature comes amid growing scrutiny over chatbot safety.
