OpenAI to spend $1 billion for AI-driven disease research

Sam Altman announced that the newly formed OpenAI Foundation will commit nearly $1 billion over the next year saying that AI led research could help cure diseases increasing quality of life. Describing AI as a powerful tool, he warned that technology could introduce complex threats that no single company can manage alone. Notably, he added Alzheimer’s disease among focus areas.
