Organisers among 7 arrested for stampede at Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata; SIT formed

Kolkata Police arrested seven people, including those associated with the organising committee, construction work, crowd control and security arrangements, for the stampede at Chorbagan Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal that killed 19 people. Police have registered a suo motu case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The West Bengal government has also formed an SIT to probe the lapses.
