Oscars 2026 introduces new 'Best Casting' category; first since 2001

A new category has been introduced in 2026 Oscars for ‘Best Casting.’ Nominees include Nina Gold for ‘Hamlet’, Jennifer Venditti for ‘Marty Supreme’, Cassandra Kulukundis for ‘One Battle After Another’, Gabriel Domingues for ‘The Secret Agent’, and Francine Maisler for ‘Sinners’. The last time the Academy had created a new category was in 2001, for best animated feature film.
