Osman Ali Khan: the nizam who was India's first billionaire

Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad, was India's first billionaire and one of the wealthiest individuals in the early 20th century. Born in 1886, he ruled over the largest state in British India, Hyderabad. His wealth was so vast—equivalent to about 2% of the US GDP—that Time magazine featured his portrait on its cover in February 1937.
