Over 100 Mumbai residents duped in fake gas bill scam, ₹2.7 crore stolen

Over 100 Mumbai residents were scammed by fraudsters who sent messages asking them to pay pending gas connection bills. Customers of Mahanagar Gas Limited got messages saying that unpaid previous-month gas bills would lead to "disconnection tonight." People downloaded an APK file, after which cybercriminals stole banking data and siphoned around ₹2.7 crore over a period of 30 days.
