Over 2,000 kg plastic seized, ₹24 lakh fine collected in 3 months: BMC

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has seized 2,551 kg plastic and collected ₹24.7 lakh in fines, after taking action against 494 violators in the past three months, civic officials said. "We'll suggest hotels and restaurants to use steel tiffins or another material which can be reused," officials added. If prohibited plastic is found, the BMC levies ₹5,000 as penalty.
