Over 300 families evacuated in Philippines after volcano ashfall

More than 300 families were evacuated after large ash clouds erupted from Mayon Volcano in the Philippines over the weekend. The volcano released a pyroclastic flow, an avalanche of hot rocks, ash and gas, down its southwestern slope before nightfall on Saturday. The 2,462-metre volcano is the most active of the country's 24 volcanoes.
