Over 3,000 kg cocaine worth $1.13 bn seized in Italy; 1 arrested

Italian police on Friday seized over 3,000 kilograms of pure cocaine worth around €1 billion ($1.13 billion) in a container shipment from South America. Almost 2,300 kilograms of the drug were found hidden in boxes of bananas, peanuts, and pepper. Another 850 kilograms of cocaine were found on a truckload of washing machines and bananas. Police have arrested one person.
