Over 36,211 private companies in Maharashtra were liquidated, dissolved or struck off in last five years, with Pune reporting 6,433 closures, Mumbai 12,009 and Thane 4,704. Industry experts cited poor infrastructure, financial difficulties, lack of working capital and relocation for better incentives. Government records don't show how many jobs were lost or whether workers received compensation.
