OYO Founder urges FM to scrap 12% GST on hotel rooms below ₹1,000

OYO Founder Ritesh Agarwal has urged Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to scrap the 12% GST applicable on hotel rooms priced below ₹1,000 in Budget 2023. GST on hotel rooms makes accommodation unaffordable for budget travellers and particularly hurts small hoteliers, he said. The hospitality industry is still recovering from COVID-19 pandemic's impact and requires government's support, he added.
