Paapa Essiedu faces death threats for playing Snape in Harry Potter series

HBO heightened security on the Harry Potter TV series sets after actor Paapa Essiedu received death threats and racial abuse over being cast as 'Professor Snape'. "With actors on major IP shows…especially one with such passionate fans, things can get scary," HBO CEO Casey Bloys said. The role was previously portrayed by late actor Alan Rickman.
