Padma Shri awardee & noted cartoonist Narayan Debnath dies at 97

Cartoonist Narayan Debnath, known for creating popular Bengali comic characters like 'Bantul The Great', 'Handa Bhonda' and 'Nonte Phonte' died aged 97 on Tuesday in Kolkata. "Debnath, a Padma Shri awardee, died at 10.15 am," an official of the hospital confirmed. Debnath was admitted to a private hospital on December 24 following a prolonged illness and was on ventilator support.
