Pak faces shutter-down strike, protestors & police clash over high petrol prices
Pakistan is facing fresh economic unrest amid Jamaat-e-Islami's (JI) nationwide shutter-down strike against rising fuel prices, heavy taxation, inflation and soaring electricity costs. Major markets in Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar remained closed as JI members clashed with police. The government has agreed to talks with JI to avoid the protests from turning into a law-and-order situation.
