Pak repays UAE's $3.4-bn debt after begging for funds from Saudi, cites 'national dignity'

Pakistan fully repaid the $3.4 billion debt it owed UAE after begging for funds from Saudi Arabia. UAE had caught Pakistan by surprise when it suddenly asked it to return its loan, following which Saudi Arabia agreed to give $2-billion aid to Pakistan. A senior Pakistani official said Pakistan decided to return UAE's debt before April-end to "uphold national dignity".
