Pakistan raises defence spending by 20% to make itself 'invincible'
Pakistan's Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, while unveiling a PKR 17.57 trillion Budget on Friday, allocated PKR 2.5 trillion for defence, up 20% from the outgoing year. "Defence spending has been increased considerably to make the country invincible due to the uncertainty in the region," Aurangzeb said. He presented the Budget amid loud protests from Opposition lawmakers in the Parliament.
