Pakistan reported its first polio case of 2026 after a four-year-old child in Sindh's Sujawal district tested positive for the wild poliovirus. The case was confirmed by Pakistan's National Emergency Operations Centre and the National Institute of Health. Despite vaccinating over 4.4 crore children, refusals, security challenges and access issues left nearly one million children unvaccinated.
