Palestine to hold first legislative election in nearly 20 years

Palestine is set to hold its first legislative election in nearly 20 years. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has scheduled the vote for November 2026 for Palestinians in Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza to elect members of the Palestinian Legislative Council. The last election was held in 2006, when Hamas defeated Abbas's Fatah movement, securing 76 out of 132 seats.
