Panchayat withdraws ban on women using smartphones in Raj district

Panchayat in Rajasthan's Jalore has withdrawn the ban on women using smartphones after the decision on December 21 led to public opposition. The panchayat said that the decision to ban smartphones was taken keeping children in mind, but it was "misunderstood". Under the ban, women were allowed to only use keypad phones, while girls could use smartphones for study purposes.
