Pandit Jasraj 1st Indian musician with minor planet named after him
International Astronomical Union (IAU) has named a minor planet, orbiting Sun from between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, after Indian classical singer Pandit Jasraj. The Padma Vibhushan recipient has become the first Indian musician to have a celestial body named after them. The minor planet was discovered on November 11, 2006, by the NASA-funded project Catalina Sky Survey.
