Parasitic, tree-strangling vines spreading due to climate change: Study

The parasitic vines found commonly in tropical areas are running rampant due to climate change. Though these vines are crucial part of many rainforest ecosystems, they wrap around trees and compete against them for light, suppressing their growth. A significant rise in these vines could alter the ecosystem's fundamental nature, including its ability to store planet-warming carbon, scientists said.
