A parliamentary panel on Tuesday recommended an urgent review of the existing ₹1,000 minimum monthly pension under the Employees' Pension Scheme. The panel noted that the minimum pension is inadequate and has remained unchanged for a considerable period of time despite the rising cost of living. Pensioners had also staged protest at Jantar Mantar for increasing the minimum monthly pension.
