Particles released 40 yrs ago in Chernobyl nuclear disaster unexpectedly stable: Study
Forty years after Chernobyl disaster, scientists found that some microscopic radioactive particles released from the destroyed reactor have remained surprisingly structurally stable, far more than assumed. On examining six tiny particles, key uranium-oxide crystal structures were found to be largely intact. Findings would help scientists predict how radioactive contamination behaves over decades.
