The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet appointed PD Vaghela, Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, as the Chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Monday. A 1986-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, Vaghela will be TRAI Chairman for three years or till he attains the age of 65. He succeeds RS Sharma who retires on September 30.
