People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Abdul Kabir Butt called slain Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani a "martyr" during an event in Kishtwar, sparking a row. Local police briefly detained Kabir for questioning after his remarks. BJP and Congress condemned Kabir's remarks, asking him to apologise. Notably, Wani was killed during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir in 2016.
