Perplexity unveils new search architecture for AI agents

Perplexity on Monday unveiled 'Search as Code', which it called a new search architecture for AI agents. The new architecture enables AI models to directly reach into the search stack by writing Python code, rather than relying on the final outputs of the search stack. It gives models direct control over individual search steps like retrieval, ranking and filtering.
