Person blows ship's horn to wake sleeping polar bear in Arctic, fined ₹5 lakh
A person in Norway's Arctic Svalbard archipelago was fined 50,000 kroner (around ₹5 lakh) for deliberately waking a sleeping polar bear with a ship's horn. The bear, spotted resting on land in Lomfjorden, woke and moved elsewhere after the horn sounded. Others aboard reported the incident and the individual accepted and paid the fine for violating local environmental protection law.
