Pharma stocks fall after govt tightens syrup sales rules

Shares of major pharmaceutical companies traded in the red on Tuesday after government brought all syrup formulations under the prescription-only category, ending their over-the-counter (OTC) sale without a doctor's prescription. The shares of Cipla fell 0.65%, while Glenmark Pharmaceuticals declined 0.56%. Dr Reddy's Laboratories slipped 0.36%, and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries was down 0.25%.
