Phelps oldest swimmer to win individual Olympic gold

Aged 31, American swimmer Michael Phelps became the oldest swimmer to win an individual Olympic gold medal, after winning the 200-metre butterfly event on Tuesday. The record was earlier held by US swimmer Duke Kahanamoku, who had won a gold at the age of 30 at the 1920 Games. Notably, Phelps now has a total of 21 Olympic gold medals.
