Philippines to buy 32 helicopters worth $624m to boost disaster response

Philippines Defence Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Sunday said that the country is buying 32 S-70i Black Hawk helicopters for over $624 million to boost its disaster response capabilities. Lorenzana added that the acquisition will be done under a project which also includes a training program for pilots. This comes after Typhoon Rai claimed over 400 lives in December last year.
