Astronaut Naoko Yamazaki took to X to share pictures of the first sunrise of 2026 as seen from International Space Station (ISS). Yamazaki revealed she accessed the pictures from fellow Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui, who is currently aboard ISS. "May 2026 be filled with happiness and peace," Yamazaki wrote. Notably, astronauts on ISS ring in the New Year 16 times.
