Pilots' body seeks creation of autonomous aviation authority to replace DGCA

Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) urged PM Narendra Modi to form an autonomous Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) replacing Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). In a letter, FIP said, "Such an authority would...improve regulatory effectiveness...support the sustained growth of one of the world's largest aviation markets." CAA should have administrative, financial independence, it added.
