Plastic not 100% biodegradable, claiming otherwise misleading: BIS

Plastic is not a 100% biodegradable product and if any manufacturers claim otherwise it will be tantamount to a misleading advertisement, a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) official said. The BIS has also suggested the Environment Ministry not certify the biodegradability of plastics as it has not been established and research is still going on in India and other countries.
