Please gather personal items & head home: Meta to laid-off staff

In an email sent to 8,000 laid-off employees on Wednesday, Meta said, "If you're already in the office, we ask that you please gather any personal items at your desk and head home." Meta said the layoffs were part of a "continued effort to run the company more efficiently" while also helping offset "other investments" being made by the business.
