PLI scheme may attract Tesla to set up facility in India: Minister

The government's ₹25,938-crore production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for auto sector may attract Tesla to set up a manufacturing base in India, Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey said. Billionaire Elon Musk-led Tesla has sought a cut in import duties on electric cars in India. The company should take the first step and then government will consider their demand, Pandey said.
