PM awards honorary doctorate to 79-yr-old music maestro Ilaiyaraaja

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday presented an honorary doctorate to 79-year-old music maestro and Rajya Sabha MP Ilaiyaraaja at the 36th convocation ceremony of Tamil Nadu's Gandhigram Rural Institute. PM Modi also awarded an honorary doctorate to 86-year-old instrumentalist and Padma Vibhushan recipient Umayalpuram K Sivaraman. The two personalities are renowned musicians of southern India.
