PM Modi claps, MPs celebrate as Sitharaman says no income tax till ₹12 lakh salary

PM Narendra Modi was seen clapping while other MPs of the NDA chanted 'Modi, Modi' just as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said those earning up to ₹12 lakh will be exempted from income tax under the new regime. "New structure to substantially reduce taxes of middle class and leave more money in their hands," the Ministry of Finance said.
