PM Modi expresses grief over loss of life in Kolkata stampede, announces aid

PM Narendra Modi expressed grief after a stampede at Kolkata's Chorbagan Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal killed 19 people and injured 25. "The stampede…is saddening. Condolences to the bereaved families. Wishing the injured a speedy recovery," he said. The PMO has announced ₹2 lakh in aid for each deceased person's next of kin and ₹50,000 for the injured.
