Pokhran-II nuke tests were conducted on this day

The Pokhran-II nuclear tests were conducted by India on May 11, 1998. After the series of five nuclear bomb test explosions concluded, the Indian government led by PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared India as "a fully-fledged nuclear weapons state". To commemorate the success of the tests, the government had also declared this day as National Technology Day.
