Poland's only cosmonaut, Gen Mirosław Hermaszewski, who circled the Earth in 1978, has died at the age of 81. European Parliament member Ryszard Czarnecki, Hermaszewski's son-in-law, said he died of complications from a surgery he had undergone at a hospital in Warsaw.
