Polar microbiologist Dr Shivaji Sisinthy passes away

Hyderabad scientist Dr Shivaji Sisinthy, Emeritus Research Director at LVPEI and the first Indian biologist to join both Arctic & Antarctic missions, passed away. With 375+ papers, discovery of 3 new bacteria and awards like Antarctic Award 2002 & National Polar Sciences Award 2016, he ranked among India's top 2% microbiologists and led key ocular-gut microbiome research.
