Police dogs in Maharashtra to now remain with police even after retirement

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has directed that police dogs will now remain with police even after their retirement. The Maharashtra government will bear the expenses for dogs' food and other requirements. Notably, a police dog retires after completing 10 years of service. Previously, retired dogs were often given up for adoption, which sometimes adversely affected their mental well-being.
