Police on highest alert during Durga Puja in Dhaka amid threats

After several Durga Puja committees in Bangladesh received anonymous threat letters demanding up to Tk 5 lakh (around ₹3.5 lakh), police in Dhaka will be on highest alert at every mandap for added security. Police officials will be both in uniform and civilian clothes. The letters reportedly threatened that Durga Puja celebrations won't be allowed if the money isn't paid.
