Police should be given power to encounter rape accused: BJP MLA

Gujarat BJP MLA Shailesh Mehta said police should be "given powers to encounter rape accused" to bring a "deterrent" and fear of law. "The criminals do not fear the police...The police should be given a free hand to encounter such criminals," he added. "If the police's hands are tied down, how can there be fear? Mehta stated.
