Policeman shoots man dead after being slashed with knife in US

A police officer in US' California shot a man dead after the latter wounded him with a knife outside a police station. The authorities stated that the man slashed and stabbed the police officer with a knife in "an unprovoked attack". The officer has been hospitalised with serious wounds, with authorities saying he is expected to survive.
