Policies should be based on country's needs, shouldn't force it to adapt: PM

PM Narendra Modi, speaking at the Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2026, said, "Policies should be formulated based on the needs of the country...rather than forcing the country to adapt to policies themselves." Giving an example, he said Indians were earlier prohibited from mapping their own country, while foreign satellites could do so. "We changed this system," he added.
