Poliovirus detected in sewage from London, WHO says investigation ongoing

A type of poliovirus derived from vaccines has been detected in London sewage samples, WHO and British health officials said, saying that investigation is underway to protect public. "It is important to note that the virus has been isolated from environmental samples only- no associated cases of paralysis have been detected," said WHO. UK was declared polio-free in 2003.
