Ponting shaved goatee after losing bet, scored ton on Ashes debut

Ex-Australia captain Ricky Ponting scored his maiden Test hundred on July 26, 1997, in his first-ever Ashes Test at Headingley. He came to bat when Australia were 50/4 and scored 127. Prior to the Test, he shaved his goatee after losing a bet. Ponting had promised to shave if Matthew Elliot scored a ton in Lord's Test.
