Pope Francis uses vulgar insult against gay men, sparks outrage

Pope Francis has been criticised for allegedly using a vulgar slur in a closed-door meeting with bishops, wherein he objected to admission of gay men to seminaries (priesthood colleges). The 87-year-old reportedly said seminaries were already too full of "frociaggine" (an Italian slur). The Pope has, notably, been credited with trying to adopt a friendlier tone towards the LGBTQ+ community.
